Doctrinal Statement

The Bible

We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God as men of God were moved by the Holy Spirit to record His words without error. We believe that the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments have been providentially preserved by God as the infallible Word of God and the only authoritative guide for the faith and life of Christian disciples.

God

We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, infinite in holiness, power, wisdom, righteousness, goodness, love, and mercy.

We believe in the unity of the Godhead. There are three persons, of one essence, faculty, and glory. These persons are known to us as The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. They have been coexistent throughout eternity.

The Father

We believe in God The Father. He is the creator and sustainer of all things. He orders all things to serve His eternal purposes.

The Son

We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, was conceived of the virgin, Mary, by a special sovereign act of The Holy Spirit.

We believe that His two entire unflawed and separate natures (His deity and His humanity) were inseparably embodied together in one person, without alteration, compromise, or confusion.

He lived His earthly life as a man, subject to all the trials and temptations of a man, yet without sin.

His death on the cross was the special and complete act of atonement for all the sins of the world. Everyone who accepts Jesus Christ is cleansed from sin by His blood.

He rose in bodily form from death by the power of The Holy Spirit.

He ascended into heaven where He now intercedes for all who believe.

He will return in bodily form to this earth in like manner as He ascended to heaven.

He is the judge of both the living and the dead.

He will establish His visible and eternal kingdom on earth.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the personhood of The Holy Spirit. He is one with The Father and The Son.

The Holy Spirit is sent by The Father and The Son to effect redemption in each individual.

The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, guides, teaches, rebukes, indwells, empowers, comforts, intercedes, and unites believers into one body.

The Holy Spirit always glorifies Jesus Christ.

Mankind

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God. They were originally sinless and in fellowship with God.

We believe all mankind are free moral agents.

We believe the first ancestors of mankind willfully disobeyed God. This disobedience broke the fellowship mankind had with God. As a result of this broken fellowship, mankind suffers the terrible consequences. These consequences include: spiritual separation from God, physical death, and all the other evils that have befallen man and his world.

We believe that all mankind has inherited the rebellious nature of their first ancestors. Consequently, all are guilty of rebellion against God and in need of forgiveness through personal faith in Jesus Christ.

Salvation

We believe that the individual is saved by the grace of God through personal faith in Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit through the Word of God convicts the individual of sin and the need for salvation through Jesus Christ.

Those who repent of their sin and trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour receive forgiveness and eternal life.

Saving faith involves: a surrender of the will to Jesus Christ, a complete trust in Him for salvation, and results in a joyful obedience to His Word as a faithful disciple.

The Church and Its Mission

We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is one body, the bride of Christ. The Church was established by God as part of His redemptive work in history.

The Church is made up of believers from all nations, races, and social classes throughout history. It is composed of persons who have been regenerated by personal faith in Jesus Christ, and have been baptized by The Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ. They are separated to the service of God and the Head of the Church who is Jesus Christ.

We believe that the command to make disciples is the primary task of the Church.

We believe that every member of the Church is to be a witness to Christ by the power of The Holy Spirit.

Every member is to proclaim the message of the Gospel both in words and actions.
