Example One
Daily Devotion by Agnes Ng
Scripture Read: Psalm 139
Insight Gained
God made me and He knows everything about me even before I was born or a day is passed. He knows all the words I am going to say before I say them. He knows where I am every moment. It is such a comfort to know that every day of my life is recorded in His book and every moment is laid out. His thoughts about me are numerous. How can I not trust such a loving and caring God who is all-powerful and all-mighty? I feel totally safe in His hands. I cannot escape His presence. So I need to guard my thoughts and ways so that they may be acceptable to Him. He knows all and He can help me to grow into His likeness.
My Prayer to God
Thank you Lord for the reassurance of Your presence and Your love. I can live in peace and joy because I have such a loving father.
Example Two
Devotion by Anna Maria Catallo
Scripture Read: John 3:8
Insight Gained
The Spirit of my Lord is a mystery. I don't understand why He has chosen me. No one knows he will move or where He will move.
What a beautiful word picture the Lord draws for me. "Just as you hear the wind . . . " He appeals to my senses. I can feel the wind, hear the wind, and even though I cannot see the wind, I see the effects of the wind. This is His Spirit who woos me. When all my senses awoke to this, I was born again. He moved my heart.
My Prayer to God
Lord, my senses dull over time with circumstances and seasons, please sharpen my spiritual ears and remove the scales from my eyes. Help me and guide me to see you clearly.
Example Three
Devotion by Lynda Dariyluk
Scripture read: Genesis 22 and 23
Insight Reference: Genesis 22:12
Insight Verse or Summary
Do not lay a hand on the boy", he said "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God. Because you have not with held from me your son, your only son." (NIV)
Insight Gained
How can I be like Abraham? How can I be willing to give up everything God wants me to? In my spirit I have desire to give up everything to Him, to surrender my entire life and being to Him, yet I still hold on so tightly to some areas of my life which are displeasing to Him . . . sins, which, if left unchecked will result in the decay and eventual death of my relationship with Him. I know that God is working in my life, but I want to cooperate more with Him and to be obedient, the first time He asks. Is it more of a fear of the Lord that I need? Or is it to be broken of my pride and rebellion? Or to love and know Him more, to have a closer, more intimate relationship with Him? Maybe all the above ...
My prayer to God
Lord, I want to give up everything for You. I need to! But Lord, I'm so rebellious, stubborn and filled with pride. Please help me. Whatever it is that needs to change in me to make me completely obedient to You, please do it! I need Your Spirit to change me Jesus. Please do Your work in me. In Your name. Amen.
