I started my journey to study discipleship training three years ago. At that time, I did not think too much about it. I thought I should know most of the teaching since I called myself a Christian for the last 30 years. The only two things that worried me were 1) memorizing the bible verses. (I had very bad memory as I got older). 2) To witness for Christ.
To my surprise, after I finished the first book, I could not believe my spiritual life was totally transformed. Besides getting confirmation of what I really believed in, I was also provided with tools to get to know God in a very systematic way. My bible studies and my prayer times with God were so intimate, that many times; I felt I was talking to God on the phone. He used the Holy Spirit to give me wisdom to clear my own doubt.
He also used other people to give me answers for my doubts like Belinda, my teacher and my small group members.
Now I almost finished book six. I was able to remember all the 65 verses, which was totally to my surprised.
Now I read the bible consistently, journal each time and pray to God about everything. Sometimes, I can spend three to four hours reading the bible without losing interest. I can use the Bible verses (mostly God’s promise and commands) to encourage others and myself when I have felt lost. The most amazing thing to me is I no longer have fear to share the Gospel with others. As Paul said:
"I am not ashamed of the Gospel because this is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first to the Jew then the Gentile." Romans 1 16.
God has provided opportunities for me to go over the bridge illustration with non- believers. Most of the time, I knew it was the right moment for me to do it. One has accepted Christ so far. Now God gave me another challenge to go to Kuwait this April to witness for him to the Chinese community and help those new believers to be rooted in His words by using the discipleship principle.
I thank God for calling the Discipleship International member have to devote their life to make this teaching available to all who believe.
