Lloyd and Martha
Lloyd and Martha have been married for 31 years (2006) most of that time has been spent on Vancouver Island. They have two daughters. Jennifer is working as a legal secretary and studying toward full time Christian service. Leanne Garnett, together with her husband John, have two lovely daughters. Olivia is an active toddler and Taya was born in January of this year and starting to respond verbally.
Lloyd has been involved with Discipleship International for more than five years. He has been leading groups in Nanaimo and now in Victoria. He has found the Equip to Serve materials provide a solid basis for all Christians to learn how to walk consistently with Christ and to develop key skills like sharing their faith, setting priorities in life by the Scriptures, and leading a small group. He has trained several people through the two year course and now has one couple who have organized and provide leadership for a group themselves on their own.
That is one of the key purposes of this ministry as it seeks to win people to Christ, build them up in their faith and send them out to ministry. "Our goal is to disciple others in order that they may disciple others to disciple others. It is called multiplication".
At present Lloyd is adjusting to that stage in life called retirement. Without the necessity to prepare for his regular teaching job which he had for twenty-eight years, he is able to dedicate his time to his family-wife, two daughters, son-in-law and granddaughters as well as his mother and his siblings and their families. In addition to that, the Lord opened the way for him to begin a church plant called Charis Community Church.
The Lord continues to enable him to serve faithfully with the grace He provides each day. Any spiritual benefits that result from Lloyd's serving arise from Christ's strength (Phil. 4:13; 2 Cor. 12:9) which then means the Lord gets the glory.
