Travis’ Discipleship Update February 2026

Our Monterrey, Mexico team had our last meeting before we leave for Mexico on March 15th…

We met in person but were joined on zoom with the DI Director in Mexico, Valdemar, to go over the schedule and prepare our hearts for service. We will be going door to door with different churches in the Monterey area, visiting three prisons (one women's, one juvenile and one men's prison) and putting on sports camps for soccer and basketball. The team is excited to put into practice what we have been learning about sharing our faith while serving the Mexican church and community. Thank you to all of you for making this trip possible. Pray for the team that the Spirit would prepare the way by preparing people's hearts to hear the gospel and respond. Pray for Valdemar and his wife Irma, Irma just finished radiation treatment for her cancer treatment and is now in recovery mode. Also, pray for Yura who is still planning to join us from Cuba that her flights would not be cancelled due to fuel shortages.

We just recently had a team from Manitoba go down to Mexico to work in Tehuacan. While there one of the team members proposed to daughter of the pastor and they are now engaged. This brings the number to 5 couples who have been brought together through Mexico mission trips over the years. Praise God and pray for all these couples to be used mightily for God's Kingdom work.

After the Mexico trip there will be a quick turn around before heading to Thailand to teach a course called "Tools for Discipleship" with our discipleship partners from Mynamar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, The Philippines and Thailand. Pray for Cornelius who is still trying to get his visa secured to join us. I am excited for these brothers and sisters to meet many for the first time and learn, grow and be encouraged in the work of making disciples together.

Discipleship training continues with our dad and father group on Sundays, it has been exciting to hear the sharing experiences from the sons especially as they share the gospel with family and friends at school. My boys got to share the bridge diagram with their cousin over zoom which was great training for Mexico.

On Tuesday nights a new group has materialized with a group of young adults and men who have come together to get more grounded in their faith. We have a brother from Afghanistan in the group which adds a definite different perspective on some of the areas of discussion not being from a western culture background. Pray for the young adults especially as they seek to grow deeper in their relationships with God.

A number of us have gotten more intentional in sharing our faith after taking an evangelism training course with Pastor Phil. Pastor Phil and his team go out once a week sharing the gospel at different locations. What has really struck me with the training is the reliance on the Spirit and prayer to be effective in evangelism. This seems like it should always be the case but I found that I spent so little time in prayer before going out to share. The format is praying the night before, before we go out to share and while we are seeking the Spirit's direction on who to share with. Two weeks ago we got to share with Scott and Kevin at the mall. Scott was very open and prayed to receive the Lord. Pray we can follow-up with him this week. Kevin had lots of questions and we have already met up with him again. We encouraged him to start reading the Bible and will meet again this weekend to discuss questions that he comes up with as he reads. pray for Kevin to repent and relinquish control of his life to Jesus.

As a ministry we are connecting more and more disciple makers through zoom meetings which include our staff and board update and prayer meeting every Monday, monthly Mexico team meeting, Bi-Monthly East Africa leader's team meeting and the more recent Philippines team meeting led by Pastor Aldrin. These groups provide a great way to be reminded that we are not alone in the work of making disciples and to offer practical teaching, encouragement and prayer to be faithful to the work God has called us to. Pray for a potential mission trip to the Philippines in November to support these disciplers.

Until all are discipled,
