Travis’ Discipleship Update April 2026
Our team of Eight has returned from Monterrey, Mexico after a wonderful time working with the local church through door to door evangelism, sharing at a recovery centre and sports camps.
We even got the opportunity to be interviewed by a local radio station about the work of making disciples. The radio station was very excited that it was a dad and sons trip and interviewed each teenager about their experiences in Mexico.
Diego with one of our teams our sharing door to door
Before the trip even began we saw God doing some amazing things through divine appointments. One of our board members met a young man in the lobby of his church in downtown Vancouver and began to talk to him. His name is Diego and he grew up in Asia but had spent time in Mexico. He was planning to go to Mexico, seeking what God had for him to do next. Our board member got in touch with me and I got in touch with our Director in Mexico, Valdemar. Valdemar was able to connect him with a school that ministers to the very people group Diego was praying about working with. Since our team was going to be in Monterrey we invited Diego to join us for door to door evangelism and learn how to share his faith using the bridge. He was currently using his testimony as an evangelism tool and we were able to equip him with other tools. Praise God!!
We worked with five different churches going door to door, in groups of four and five in the mornings, then after having meals together each outreach group would share their experiences from their time of evangelizing. In the afternoons we would put on a soccer game and juggling competitions for the community kids with the opportunity for the teens on our team to share their testimonies and the bridge illustration. Each church community offered unique opportunities to share the gospel and we were blessed to see many make confessions of faith. We were able to give out Bibles and gospel tracts with all those we shared with and even had opportunity to give out audio Bibles to those who were blind or illiterate that we met as we went door to door.
One experience that stuck out with one of the groups I was part of evangelizing with was sharing with Roberto, like many in Mexico Roberto has a Catholic background but he was willing to listen as this Canadian came to the door with a white board and the question "Do you know where you are going when you die, or is that something your still working on? Tanner shared the bridge and I drew it on the white board. Roberto asked many questions and was particularly intrigued when we read him Ephesians 2:8-9 about salvation coming from grace not from our works. We emphasised that religious traditions do not get us to God, soley a faith relationship with Jesus that leads to repentance and obedience. Although Roberto didn't pray with us, you could tell his mind was going fast, thinking about the verses we were sharing as we drew out the bridge illustration and his thoughtful questions indicated that he was processing the gospel message. This was a great experience to have with my son.
We also had many opportunities to pray over sick people in their homes, trusting in God to be their healer and open the door to a right relationship with Him through His healing of them and their putting their trust in Him.
The other major opportunity that came about was to visit a mens and womens recovery centre and worship and fellowship with those at the centre. Unfortunately, at the last minute we were not able to go to the prisons that we had been scheduled to visit but we saw that God had other plans for us in visiting the recovery centre. The whole team was inspired by the heartfelt worship and Yura and Andy from our team were able to share their testimonies and David and Jordan shared the bridge with a translation from Jessica. We even taught them the song "My God is so Big" in English as a team which was a memorable experience.
Earlier in the day we got the opportunity to be on a local Christian radio station and share about the work that God had called us to do in Mexico. If you would like to listen to some of the interview I have posted the link below:

We appreciate all your prayer and financial support to make this ministry and mission possible. It was truly a blessing to serve with my two youngest sons Tanner and Jordan and to work alongside the other young men and dads that came with us.
Until all are discipled,
Travis, Tanner and Jordan & the Canadian team
